Paddling on Skull Shoal Creek is so much fun, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Suites Athens. Lakes? Sure, Reservoir 64 is in the neighborhood, and folks from Athens-Clarke County love to come here. Throughout the summer at Payne Lake highs are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's; night lows at Payne Lake through       the wintertime commonly dip into the 20's. Ramada Limited Royston is a delightful location to get some rest, and Poplar Springs Campgrounds is a good campground here. This location is great, just explore all the amusing stuff to do right next door to Payne Lake. Visit Beaverdam Creek since you're here at Payne Lake, and enjoy a round of golf at Sunrise Golf Club. Not far from Payne Lake you get some pleasant water scenery at Payne Dam; whitewater paddling                  is great on Big Clouds Creek.
