    If you are in this part of Georgia make sure to pay a visit to Northridge Lake. If you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Marsh Creek, and if you crave a little side journey, try Island Bar Shoals. Throughout the days of summer here at Northridge Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures  
   at Northridge Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. If you need a place to stay Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Roswell is a wonderful choice, and a trip to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is worthwhile.
This place, Northridge Lake, it completely has so much outdoors exciting stuff. If you're here at Northridge Lake and you like golf, you can stop by Blue Heron Golf Club, and why not have a look at Northridge Lake Dam if you're here.
 
               Northridge Lake is not far at all from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, and after a long day outdoors Courtyard By Marriott Atlanta Roswell is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Northridge Lake is a brilliant location to visit for more than one day, White Water Express is a brilliant location to camp nearby, and do take a hike on the Brookshire Creek Trail.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Martin Lake. A great location for whitewater paddling close to Northridge Lake is Big Creek, and White Water Learning Center is a glorious campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Don't forget to take a perfect little trip to Ball Mill Creek. Lakes are perfect; Patronis Lake is a lake that's next to Northridge Lake.
Northridge Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; during the month of March you get the most rain around here; October is when it's the driest.

No real put in spot because the water is only about 6 inches high. It's not deep enough to move. It's literally a stagnant cesspool now. Be afraid. 7-6-2008...

Simmons Lake
Just thought you should know this, but Simmons Lake essentially doesn't exist anymore. I'm an Atlanta native who grew up in DeKalb County and attended Lakeside High School; back when I was a teenager I saw work done on the neighboring Echo Lake, which is surrounded by nice middle-class homes. From what I can tell, the lake was dredged, I guess in order to save it, and Simmons Lake (across Briarcliff Road) was essentially sacrificed for its sake, taking the excess silt from Echo Lake. There's still a small pond there, quite shallow, in the areas closet to Briarcliff Road and Echo Lake, but nothing like what I once knew; over the years even the trees and undergrowth have reclaimed most of the area the lake had once covered when I was a boy...
