Soar down the rapids of Big Sandy Creek in a kayak, and you don’t have to go far from Murphy Lake to observe the water at Murphy Lake Dam. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Indian       Springs State Park is a good site to do that; Richardson Lake is a good lake close by. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! Murphy Lake rules! Hiking is a popular thing to do around Murphy Lake; Allison Lake Wildlife Trail is a pleasant local trail, and dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn Covington. There's perfect hiking along the Ocmulgee River Trail, and don't leave Murphy Lake without first going for a hike along the Kinnard Horse Trail. Murphy                  Lake gets a great deal of water; through the month of March you get the most rain around here while September is frequently the driest month. For the period of the warm months at Murphy Lake highs are generally in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's.
