Mullens Lake is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is so wonderful. A great place to camp here at Mullens Lake is Forks Campground; there are plenty of folks from Augusta-Richmond County here. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Savannah River, and Red Roof Inn & Suites Augusta is a delightful location to get some rest. Take a hike on the Horn Creek Hiking Trail, and a golf course close by is Forest Hills Golf Club.

| | Summer brings highs in the 90's to Mullens Lake, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are usually in the 50's, and nighttime lows throughout the winter for Mullens Lake tend to be in the 30's. Be careful coming to Mullens Lake, you might not ever wanna return back home again. water at Mullens Lake Dam. Mullens Lake gets a large amount of water; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
This lake is so wonderful. Hiking
along the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail is tremendous fun. Not far from Mullens Lake, you'll stumble on Spring Lake which is a stunning lake, and a magnificent close by hotel is Holiday Inn AUGUSTA WEST I-20. Since you might be in a lake
visiting mood you can always take a look at nearby Idlewylde Lake; Mullens Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Heritage Mobile Home Community is a nice local campground.

Savannah River
| There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
