Mountain Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Papillon Resort and RV Campground is a tremendous local campground, and a scenic lake like Strickland Lake is a nice spot to pop by. This lake is so wonderful. A round of golf at nearby Orchard Hills Golf Club is a splendid way to kill some time, and whitewater paddling is fine on Wolf Creek. If you need a spot to stay Howard Johnson Inn Newnan GA is a nice choice. This is no location for people

| | who don’t like to have a good time. If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Snake River; lakes are such serene spots, why not stop at Stricklands Lakes. Mountain Lake is a wet location that gets a large amount of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is October. An interesting thing to visit in the neighborhood of Mountain Lake is Mountain Lake Dam, and dry warm beds | |

Whooping Creek
 | 11 miles away ...at in this creek as it is only ankle deep 90% of the way. I have lived on this creek my entire life and have barely been able to find a spotdeep enough to swim in most years. It is however a great place to hike and camp. I dont know much about the adjacent property owners but in 29 years have never been bothered hiking the section between Clem-Lowell road and Hwy 5 (the section you are referring to).The section on the opposite side of hwy 5 is owned by Inland Paper and posted. There are a few property owners on shilo church road that will allow you passage to the water. I have floated a canoe to the river on this section after months of rain, but in general it is also too shallow. There are some deep holes in this section of the creek that offer great bream and bass fishing. The fishing is best closer to the river and it is not uncommon to catch 7# striped bass swimming up from the river looking for food. A gob of nightcawlers or a small rooster tail work excellent for all species. It is a beautiful stream and will not dissappoint for quiet and solitude, but not worth the hassle fo... |
