     There's some out of the ordinary stuff to see at Morris Lake Dam near Morris Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Savannah River. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous site to camp here at Morris Lake is Mount Moriah Campgrounds, and a delightful nearby hotel is Days Inn Thomson. Morris Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, White Oak Campground is a delightful local campground; probably  
   you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Scruggs Pond is just a very short distance away.
Morris Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; during January this area sees the most rain while October is regularly the driest month. Enjoy a round of golf at Three Oaks Golf Course not far from Morris Lake, needless to say you could also stop at Verderys Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Morris Lake.
 
               After a long day outdoors Knights Inn Thomson is a nice place to spend a night or two; lots of people from Augusta-Richmond County come here.
Summer brings highs in the 90's to Morris Lake. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's, and nighttime lows at Morris Lake during the winter typically dip into the 20's.

There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams....
