     A great location for whitewater paddling near Morgan Falls Reservoir is Marsh Creek; if time allows, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a national park worth checking out. If you need a site to stay Staybridge Suites ATLANTA PERIMETER CENTER WEST is a good choice, and during your trip here you'll meet some folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta for sure. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful close by hotel is Hyatt Place Atlanta Perimeter  
   Center. Summertime highs at Morgan Falls Reservoir generally tend to be in the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while Morgan Falls Reservoir night low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
You're probably hooked on lakes, Orkin Lake is one of those nearby, and in case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Creek. Morgan Falls Reservoir

You'll need more than a day to discover everything Morgan Falls Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at White Water Learning Center; for you golfers we recommend close by Blue Heron Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. Morgan Falls Reservoir is a good place to visit for more than one day, Marietta Campground is a good place to camp nearby, and if you've had enough of Morgan Falls Reservoir, Bull Sluice Lake is close by.

Simmons Lake
My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la...

It's not only accessible but it's very accessible. For some bizarre reason the County put in a boat ramp, so get out there and paddle around a bit. Pick up some trash left by some people and storm runoff while your at it....I was born and grew up in the community surrounding this lake from 1955 to 1969. Too bad it is not more easily accessible....Buena Vista Lake is just a tiny pond in a city park. There is no reason for tourists to visit unless you happen to be staying in the neighborhood and want to take a walk....
