Mitchell Lake is not the only place nearby, Hodges Lake is a nearby lake, and a great location for whitewater paddling is Big Sandy Creek. Good hiking is available along the Ocmulgee River Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Homewood Suites by Hilton MaconNorth. At Mitchell Lake through the warmest time       of the year highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. All through the wintertime highs are mostly in the 50's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Mitchell Lake plunge into the 30's. Mitchell Lake is a wet place that gets a great deal of rain; March is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is October. If you need a place to stay Value Place Bowman is a splendid choice; if you came                  to camp Lake Juliette Dames Ferry Park is a pleasant site to do that. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Towaliga River; there's fine hiking along the Kinnard Horse Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Allison Lake Wildlife Trail; naturally, all our national parks are great locations to explore and Ocmulgee National Monument is no exception. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things close to Mitchell Lake.
