You'll need more than a day to explore everything Michael Lake has to offer, you can camp at Twin Lakes Park, and why not a little side trip to Chicken Creek. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Michael Lake. Do visit Reece Lake in the neighborhood of Michael Lake, it's a picturesque lake; get yourself into a kayak and hit Marsh Creek. This lake is so wonderful. You'll stumble on a delightful lake called Statham Lake near Michael Lake, and lots of folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta come here. For the period of the long summer days at Michael Lake temperatures are usually in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. Lake all through the winter mostly fall into the 20's. Michael Lake ordinarily gets a lot of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most, and October on the other hand is the
driest. A tour to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is worthwhile. There's so much to do here at Michael Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Marietta Campground is a delightful spot for that. This lake is so
wonderful. Near Michael Lake you hit upon a golf course called Woodmont Golf Club. Dry warm beds await you at Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/AlpharettaWindward, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Brookshire Creek Trail.

Simmons Lake
 | 18 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers.
