     Stay the night at Fox Hollow Camp Ground, and after a long day outdoors Country Hearth Inn Augusta is a delightful place to spend a night or two. Get your heart beating on the delightful whitewater of Savannah River. There's so much to do here at McDonald Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Byron Mobile Home and Camper is a great site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Pointe South Golf Club is a wonderful golf course close by, and not far from McDonald  
   Pond you'll find James Pond which is a stunning lake. Days Inn Augusta / Deans Bridge Road is a delightful location to get some rest, and there are other sites here than McDonald Pond, for example Jolly Pond.
All the water falling down from the sky makes McDonald Pond a wet site; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is November. What a site this is for outdoors folks. You're sure to stumble upon some friendly people from
 
               Augusta-Richmond County here. Through the warm months highs here at McDonald Pond reach the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are generally in the 50's with temperatures at McDonald Pond dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.

There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams....
