It's always fun to stop by McDaniel Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Key West Inn Chatsworth, and nearby you hit upon the Grassy Mountain Tower Trail which is a fine hiking trail. What a place this is for outdoors people. In case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Mill Creek. There's so much to do here at McDaniel Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lake Conasauga Campground is a nice place

| | for that. This lake is so wonderful. Baker Branch is a glorious local stream, and not far from McDaniel Lake you'll discover Fort Mountain Lake which is a beautiful lake. The smiling folks of Dalton like to hang out close by. This lake is so wonderful. Holly Creek is a tremendous whitewater spot near McDaniel Lake, and the Songbird Trail is a tremendous hiking trail close by. places here than McDaniel Lake, for example Corbin Lake. You'll need more than a day to look at everything McDaniel Lake has to offer, you can camp at Fort Mountain State Park, and on a great day you can take a hike along the
Emery Creek Trail. Best Western Fairwinds Inn & Suites is a brilliant location to get some rest, and McDaniel Lake Dam is an exciting thing to check out. For the period of the summer months at McDaniel Lake temperatures are typically
in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at McDaniel Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
McDaniel Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

Lake Conasauga Campground
 | ...ng and hosting at Lake Conasauga for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make that sma... |

Panther Creek Trail
 | Make sure you follow trail long enough to get to the creek bottom..it's wonderful!...Hope to get up there in December...awesome views, challenging and dangerous at some points. Definitely will be back... |
Coosawattee River
 | The General Store @ Eagle Mtn. now has Villa rentals to add to the enjoyment of paddling the Coosawattee, and can provide shuttle service to and from the river. Its a great place to spend the day, and now, you can even spend several days if you wish. Check them out!!...Ran the kayak trip from the General Store this past Memorial Day weekend it was great.The Store was full of customers, but they tried to make everyone feel very special. Great Folks and a great 2hr trip...The Coosawattee General Store is now offering kayaks/tubes for the stretch that runs through Coosawattee River Resort.... |
