If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll fancy McDaniel Lake. Baker Branch is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit; Fort Mountain State Park is a good campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There's tremendous hiking along the Grassy Mountain Tower Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Mill Creek.       For the duration of the days of summer highs here at McDaniel Lake get into the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while McDaniel Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Holly Creek offers some nice whitewater; Best Western Fairwinds Inn & Suites is a splendid place to get some rest. Good hiking is available                  along the Songbird Trail, and lots of folks from Dalton come here. McDaniel Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is March, and October is when it's the driest. Don't leave McDaniel Lake without first going for a hike along the Emery Creek Trail, and McDaniel Lake is a pleasant site to visit for more than one day, Lake Conasauga Campground is a pleasant site to camp nearby. While you're here at McDaniel Lake, you could also stop at beautiful Conasauga Lake, and the peak of Beaver Mountain can be seen from McDaniel Lake.
