Camping at Appalachian Camper Park is always a splendid experience; on a good day you can take a hike along the Chattooga Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The scenery at Mathis Lake Dam close to Mathis Lake is beautiful; a wonderful close by hotel is Comfort Inn Cornelia. This is a popular place for people from Cornelia, and Mathis Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Hazel Creek RV Park is a brilliant local campground. Much precipitation

| | falls at Mathis Lake; during March this area sees the most rain; the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Mathis Lake you can take a hike along the Bartram Trail, and glide down the rapids of Tallulah River in a kayak. There are other locations here than Mathis Lake, for example Reservoir 34, and swing by Deep Creek it's a tremendous site to explore.  | 1 PHOTO Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.?  | 12 miles away ...re constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin.
