In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Cedar Creek, and a short trip to Buffington Spring is always worthwhile. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and night lows at Mathis Lake throughout the wintertime generally fall into the 20's. Floyd State Park; Johnnies Creek has a perfect whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. I don't want to stop, cause I'm havin' a glorious time here at Mathis Lake. Here at Mathis Lake you can see Simms Mountain. There's so much to do here at Mathis Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Rome-floyd County Recreation is a great location for that.
