| | Mathews Lake a wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain while September is mostly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Mounds Trail; there are some great whitewater spots on Apalachee River. Summertime highs at Mathews Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 50's, and night lows during the winter for Mathews Lake tend to be in the 30's. | |

This lake is so wonderful. Have a fine hiking adventure along the Falling Camp Trail. If you came for an overnight stay US Forestry Department is a good location to camp; there's whitewater on Little River for all you adrenaline
junkies. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Mathews Lake. Walker Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and why not camp at Talisman Campark if you're here at Mathews Lake.

Twin Bridges Trail
 | 18 miles away The Twin Bridges Trail is a bit strenuous and half of it is along the lake. It ends near a hunting camp where trash is dumped by campers. I really wish the trail were longer. USFS needs to consider walk-in camping with a parking area to require campers to walk 1/4 mile to the sites. The gate needs to be locked to the lakeside lots except for hunting season.... |
