If you are in this part of Georgia make sure to pay a visit to Martin Lake. Pine Lake RV Campground is a great campground nearby, and there's good hiking along the Mounds Trail. Do stop by Pettit Lake near Martin Lake, it's a beautiful lake; good hiking is available along the Falling Camp Trail. This lake is so wonderful. An out of the ordinary thing to take a look at near Martin Lake is Martin Lake Dam.

| | when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is September. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you came for an overnight stay Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area is a splendid site to camp, and Comfort Suites Athens is a wonderful location to get some rest. A scenic lake like Benny Meyers Lake next to Martin Lake is a perfect place to go to, and the Scull Shoals Trail offers hiking at its best.

The winter comes with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Martin Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Foundry Park Inn & Spa, and get covered with water paddling on Big Clouds Creek.
