The beauty of Margiebell Lake attracts many people from all around. Some nearby water includes Eastanollee Creek, and during your journey here you'll meet some people from Toccoa for sure. | | One is in the vicinity; North Broad River Structure Number One Dam is not far at all from Margiebell Lake. Summer at Margiebell Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Margiebell Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Rice Creek offers some magnificent whitewater, and Toccoa Rv Park & Campground is a great local campground. Going for a hike on the Chattooga Trail is always a wonderful adventure; after a long day outdoors Sleep Inn Lavonia is a great place to spend a night or two.

Stonecypher Lake
 | ... on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
