     If you're interested in hydro structures, you can explore Manning Lake Dam, and Manning Lake is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, Salem Campground is a splendid location to camp nearby. Some of the water nearby flows, like Freeman Creek, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Honey Creek Golf & Country Club is close by. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always  
   go whitewater paddling on South River, and Mount Bethel Campground is a fine local campground. Yellow River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites COVINGTON is a splendid location to spend a night or two.
This lake is so wonderful. Manning Lake generally gets a great deal of rainfall; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and September on the other hand is the
 
               driest. You could also stop at Dickson Lake since you're here at Manning Lake; it's nearby, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Conyers.
Any time is a great time at Manning Lake if you like the outdoors. Looking for something near Manning Lake? Dickson Lake is in the neighborhood, and stopping by Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. The warmest time of the year at Manning Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. During the wintertime highs are usually in the 50's, and night lows in the 30's for Manning Lake.

Is South River a public river all the way to Jackson Lake?...I was just surfing sites browsing facts about the south river and came across this site regarding canoeing the river and noticed you have a put in get out marker. So is it illegal to put in wherever you want along the river if you have somewhere avail? Putting in at Killian Hill Rd , the best white water is just down river from HWY 78 to the Yellow River Park.  Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions....
