MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Etowah River Campground
I love camping at Etowah River Campground.  It is secluded and away from the traffic of the big lakes and Corps of Engineers campgrounds.  The owners are VERY friendly and will do anything to make your stay pleasurable.  You can hike and ride your ATV nearby, float the Etowah River or just relax.  There is no reason to run to town after your arrival.  The campsites are also very spacious and roomy, the bath house is clean and well maintained and the grounds are well groomed.  I can't wait to go back.  It may just be the only place I camp from now on....

Camp Glisson Lower Lake
Camp Glisson is private property owned and run as a Camp & Retreat Center by the United Methodist Church. The lakes on the property are not available as a camping area. Prior arrangments must be made to use of any camp facilities. For more information contact the Glisson office at 706-864-6181....

Cedar House Yurt Cabins

Hidden Valley Resort
2 PHOTOS
This is a Super Campground, but it might be important for you to know that it is ''clothing optional'' ... you wear as much or as little as you want, but don't be surprised to see people wearing just a smile.? Also, the name as now changed to Paradise Valley Resort.? It is family oriented and there is a daily fee....

Dicks Creek
Well if this is where the big waterfall is. No Iw ould not raft it. Besides if you went way too far down you will run into private proprrty and You will be in huge trouble! For below the falls there are deep pools w/ trout and signs to keep out. What a pretty picture to take. GO with the right person which in my case took the wrong person, Who likes to stop Fish for awhile, see a fall, go on to next stop.Rest, enjoy and move to Desoto or Helen etc. I plan for now on to go to this area of GA 2 to 3 times a year to see the views. Pooh on some of your state parks for camping....

DeSoto Falls Trail
12 miles away
I was there during the weekend before the 4th. DO not plan to stay a whole day here. Have a snack see the falls and move on to other falls. I camped here and it was okay. Had a run in with a huge Timber rattler 3/4 of a mile from entrance of Desot and realized camp was below....... Go see the Waters Creek area as well. Have a great lunch for few hours at Vogel North of DeSoto....

Coosa Backcountry Trail
14 miles away
...limb, about half way up it started to rain which made the 40F weather a little colder. We decided we were to far into the journey now to turn back, so we pushed on. After a few hours of strenuous hiking we reached the junction of the Coosa and Appalachian Trail. We pushed on for another hour or two until we reached the top and I saw the better than I expected shelter at the summit of Blood Mountain. We staggered in about two at a time a few minutes apart, each small group repeating the same emotion of screaming here it is, or we found it, finally. We camped in the shelter with two other parties and proceeded to drink the liquor we brought with us which helped us keep our mind off the fact that the temp was falling under twenty degrees making for a cold night. The next morning the mountain was covered in ice and light snow. The view was spectacular as you can stand on a HUGE rock that is right next to the shelter. Blood mountain seems to tower way over the surrounding mountains which is great for taking pictures. While the journey up which takes about a full day if you follow the trai...

Lake Qualatchee
17 miles away
I notice that there is a Lake Qualatchee a few miles northwest of Cleveland, Georgia. I have never visited the site. Bartram's list of Cherokee towns included a ''Qualatche,'' but it was reportedly on the Flint River, too far away to have a connection with this lake. But, Mooney says a town called Qualatchee was somewhere on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River. Not much else seems to have been written about the town, and I am not yet sure how the lake came to have its name....

Raven Cliff Falls Trail
18 miles away
The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike....
