If you are in Gilmer county it's always a good idea to stop by Lovejoy Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Mountain View Inn is a wonderful place to get some rest; you can stay the night at Diamond Lure Campground. If the weather is great here at Lovejoy Lake, you can go for a hike along the Tearbritches Trail; if you come at the right time of year, Cartecay River offers some tremendous whitewater. | | view of Owltown Mountain from Lovejoy Lake, and a golf course close by is Whitepath Golf Club &. There's so much to do here at Lovejoy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Nelly Plum Campground is a glorious site for that; why not visit Lovejoy Lake Dam while you're here. The high level of precipitation makes Lovejoy Lake a reasonably wet place; throughout March this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Near Lovejoy Lake you hit upon the Mountaintown Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail. The Bear Creek Trail is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Lovejoy Lake, and Lovejoy Lake is not the only place nearby, Powell
Lake is a nearby lake. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Lovejoy Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Ramada Limited Of Blue Ridge, unsurprisingly you could also check out Johnson Lake since you're
here; it's not far at all. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Lovejoy Lake. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Lovejoy Lake.

 | I have been going to this since I was a little boy...I'm 37 now. It is a wonderful campground. It holds many memories for me as I am sure it will for you....I have stayed at the Diamond lure in the past and found the campground and the operaters to be of a high quality. There is fishing and boating on the private lake too.... |

Panther Creek Trail

Lake Conasauga Campground
 | 19 miles away ...ng and hosting at Lake Conasauga for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make that sma... |
