If you like lakes and you're in this part of Georgia you can check out Lewis Lakes. If you come at the right time of year, Whooping Creek offers some magnificent whitewater; Holiday Inn Express Carrollton, Ga is a pleasant site to get some rest. Janes Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Snake River. Tanner State Park is a magnificent local campground. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lewis Lakes a wet spot; most of the rain falls during March, and the driest of the months is October. This lake is so wonderful.
Do pop by Glover Lake in close proximity to Lewis Lakes, it's a scenic lake; unsurprisingly Acorn Creek is a lovely stream that is worth stopping at.

 | ... have lived on this creek my entire life and have barely been able to find a spotdeep enough to swim in most years. It is however a great place to hike and camp. I dont know much about the adjacent property owners but in 29 years have never been bothered hiking the section between Clem-Lowell road and Hwy 5 (the section you are referring to).The section on the opposite side of hwy 5 is owned by Inland Paper and posted. A gob of nightcawlers or a small rooster tail work excellent for all species. It is a beautiful stream and will not dissappoint for quiet and solitude, but not worth the hassle for kayaking. Wait till summer and bring an innertube and a p... |
