     There are other places here than Lake Cherful, for example Garrett Lake, and you can take a little tour to Lake Cherful Dam while you're here at Lake Cherful. This lake is so wonderful. This is a popular place for people from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Bradshaw Farms Golf Course is in the neighborhood. At Lake Cherful during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to  
   the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Lake Cherful are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn ATLANTA/ROSWELL.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Cherful a wet place; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October is the month with the least moisture. This place, Lake Cherful, it clearly has so much outdoors
 
               cool stuff. Lake Cherful is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, La Siesta RV Park is a wonderful local campground; there's some flowing water close by, Rocky Creek is a stream you can have a look at during your stay. Don't miss out on a visit to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area if you're here at Lake Cherful, and get drenched paddling on Marsh Creek.
There's so much to do here at Lake Cherful that you need to camp here for a while, Marietta Campground is a great place for that, and paddling on Big Creek is so much fun. Lakes? Sure, Lake Cherful Dam is in the vicinity; Best Western Roswell Suites is a good location to get some rest.

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la...
