If you came to camp Arrowhead Campground is a fine place to do that; Rodeway Inn At Six Flags is a brilliant place to get some rest. Summertime highs at Kings Lake usually tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 40's, and night lows at Kings Lake during the wintertime ordinarily plunge into the 20's. Lakes? Sure, High Loch is around here, and Kings Lake is a site with many visitors
from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta. The high level of rain makes Kings Lake a rather wet spot; the month with most of the rain is March, and September is the month with the least moisture.
This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. If you come at the right time of year, Sweetwater Creek offers some splendid whitewater, and not far from Kings Lake you acquire some great water scenery at Kings Lake Dam. This lake is so wonderful. Visiting Overmountain

Victory National Historic Trail is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and Kings Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Truitt-fulton is a fine local campground.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Wrights Lake; a golf course close by is Wolf Creek Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Chattahoochee River; after a long day outdoors Wingate by Wyndham Atlanta/Six Flags Austell is a tremendous location to spend a night or two.

Buena Vista Lake
17 miles away
It's not only accessible but it's very accessible. For some bizarre reason the County put in a boat ramp, so get out there and paddle around a bit. Pick up some trash left by some people and storm runoff while your at it....I was born and grew up in the community surrounding this lake from 1955 to 1969. Too bad it is not more easily accessible....Buena Vista Lake is just a tiny pond in a city park. There is no reason for tourists to visit unless you happen to be staying in the neighborhood and want to take a walk....

Simmons Lake
19 miles away
My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la...
