After a long day outdoors Suburban Extended Stay Woodstock-Atlanta N is a magnificent place to spend a night or two, and Kelly Lake Dam is an attention-grabbing thing to check out. All the water falling down from the sky makes Kelly Lake a wet site; March is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is October. That right there is a heap already, but it goes on; Kelly Lake has it all. Get drenched paddling on Marsh Creek, and obviously,

| | this is a great vicinity for people who like lakes, Lake Cherful Dam is a lake in close proximity. Dry warm beds await you at Hampton Inn AtlantaWoodstock, and Kelly Lake is not far at all from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at La Siesta RV Park, and a fine place to camp here at Kelly Lake is Marietta Campground. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Cochrans Lake North, | |

and Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a great site nearby.
Throughout the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Kelly Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs
down to the 40's while the cold winter nights at Kelly Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Rocky Creek is in the vicinity of Kelly Lake and is always a joy to pop by, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck
because Bradshaw Farms Golf Course is around here. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on Big Creek, and if the weather is lovely, you obtain a wonderful sight of Sweat Mountain from Kelly Lake.

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
