    Why not stop by Jones Lake if you're passing through these parts. Throughout the summer months at Jones Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Jones Lake are in the 30's. If you need a place to stay Quality Inn At Fort Stewart is a fine choice; Alligator Bay is a swamp in close proximity to Jones Lake. Do go to Jones Lake  
   Dam since you're here at Jones Lake, and you can stay the night at Bellaire Woods Campground.
Jones Lake regularly gets lots of rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Haarley Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and you'll probably meet some people from Hinesville-Fort Stewart here. So many entertaining things to do here at Jones Lake, too delightful to be true.

Haarley Lake
The subject lake was never named Haarley Lake.

When it was first built, it was named after a guy named Haar who, along with his family was killed in a boating accident. He was president of the Savannah Outboard Motor Racing Association.

After the Association, which built the lake, defaulted on its responsibilities to maintain the dam in good order, its owner Bertie D. Burpitt, changed the name to Burpitt's Lake.

After the death of Mr. Burpitt, and eventual sale of the property, the lake was renamed yet again Lake Loraine, which is its name today.

I know all this because Mr. Burpitt was my grandfather and I was raised on the property since before the lake was constructed....
