Johnson Lake is not far at all from Thomaston, and camping is available at Atlanta South RV Resort. If you need a site to stay Griffin Inn and Suites is a good choice; lakes are such calm sites, why not check out Mathis Lake. If you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Towaliga River, and Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is a wonderful location nearby. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! Johnson Lake is so good! by Johnson Lake Dam if you're here, and a glorious site for whitewater paddling is Towaliga River. The high level of precipitation makes Johnson Lake a rather wet site; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is September. This lake is so wonderful.
