After a long day outdoors Baymont Inn and Suites Augusta West is a good place to spend a night or two, and lots of people from Augusta-Richmond County come here. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stevens Creek, and why not camp at Heritage Mobile Home Community if you're here at Johns Pond. Golf can be played at Forest Hills Golf Club, and Savannah River is a delightful whitewater

| | spot nearby. Much rainfall falls at Johns Pond; the wettest month of the year is typically March, that's the one that rains the most; November on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Forks Campground is a fine local campground. Not far from Johns Pond, you'll locate Spring Lake which is a striking lake, and there's always Spring Lake Dam to visit in close proximity to Johns Pond. tremendous choice, and going for a hike on the Horn Creek Hiking Trail is always a brilliant adventure. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors fun things the area in the neighborhood of Johns Pond has to offer. Lakes are
wonderful; Stewarts Ponds is a lake that's right next door to Johns Pond, and there are great locations to look at along the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail. Through the summertime, highs mostly are in the 90's at Johns Pond while nighttime
lows are frequently in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Johns Pond dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights.

Savannah River
 | There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
