Iris Lakes is a nearby lake that you could go to; if you have time, Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is a national park worth checking out. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at Iris Lake East. A lake nearby is Davis Lake, and get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Towaliga River. | | down to the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are usually in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Iris Lake East are in the 30's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend South River; after a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn and Suites Locust Grove is a magnificent location to spend a night or two.

is the driest month. A nice close by hotel is Scottish Inns Locust Grove. There's so much to do here at Iris Lake East that you need to camp here for a while, New Hope Campground is a pleasant place for that. Golf can be played at
Cotton Fields Golf Club.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Iris Lake East has to offer, you can camp at Shingle Roof Campground; why not take a look at Iris Lake East Dam if you're here.

Putting in at Killian Hill Rd , the best white water is just down river from HWY 78 to the Yellow River Park. Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions.... |
