Blackjack Mountain is pretty and can be seen from Holcomb Lake, and if you came to camp Marietta Campground is a great place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rottenwood Creek, and Holcomb Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, La Siesta RV Park is a pleasant local campground. A glorious site for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Holcomb Lake

| | is Sope Creek; you're perhaps hooked on lakes, Farmland Lake is one of those nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Holcomb Lake gets lots of water; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain; October is the month with the least moisture. After a long day outdoors Crestwood Suites - Marietta is a great place to spend a night or two, and if you need a place to stay Days Inn Marietta is a splendid choice. Lake, definitely phenomenal. Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is one of the destinations right next door to Holcomb Lake that are good to go to; Wiggly Lake Dam is a picturesque location, beyond doubt worth checking out.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Wiggly Lake is near Holcomb Lake, and lots of people from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta come here. At Holcomb Lake through the summer months highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the
60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Holcomb Lake temperatures descend to the 20's.

Simmons Lake
 | 17 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
