     Here at Hill Lake there are plenty of folks from Augusta-Richmond County; why not camp at Mount Moriah Campgrounds while you're here at Hill Lake. Hill Lake is a wet spot that gets much rain; the month with most of the rain is January while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. High temperatures at Hill Lake all through the summer are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in  
   the 50's with temperatures at Hill Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
Hill Lake Dam is delightful and it's near Hill Lake, and it's a tremendous idea to stop by Little Sandy Run Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Super 8 Motel - Augusta Ft Gordon Belair is a great site to get some rest, and in all probability you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Burch Mill Pond is just a very short distance away. Whitewater paddling is good on Savannah River,
 
               and camping is available at Byron Mobile Home and Camper.

There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams....
