Bald Mountain Park Campground
10 miles away Mike and Pam has done a beautiful job with the park. We have a place in the residential? section of Bald Mountain Park and we have to go thru the park to get to our place and each time we go up there we notice somrthing else that they have done to the park to make it look better. We used to camp alots before we got our own place,I? would say that Bald Mountain Park is one of the cleanest park that we have every camp at.?????????? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU''ll ARE DOING!...This is one of the nicest campgrounds East of the Mississippi River! I have been to many! Mike and Pam have taken a run-down campground and turned it around and into one that anyone will be glad to visit. There are tons of things to see and do in the area....
Rufus Morgan Trail
11 miles away Excellent hiking trail with good access and beautiful falls. Rufus Morgan is a moderately hard short trail up to stunning 60' falls. Beautiful forest surrounds the trail. Be careful and tell someone you're going though... there's no on around for miles and if you get lost or hurt, you're on you're own. The waterfall is at the end of the trail and is easy to find. The road up to the trail is just a forest service road, but it is in great condition and there's a marked parking area (4 spots) with signage at the trailhead. We went in early August and the trail is not overgrown and in great shape....

Enota Resort and Campground
13 miles away ...hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds, the gardens or the animal farm. This campground has newly remodeled restrooms and plentiful showers and also has trampolines for the kids (and me!) We were there as a church retreat group was departing and they had a big group sing the evening before in the newly-enclosed pavilion. Occasionally, since I am a musician, I will even lead a sing-along around the campfire in front of the Lodge. Like I said, it's a family place and even...

Arkaquah Trail
17 miles away Hiked this trail with a friend on Labour Day weekend 2007 and it was one of the toughest trails that we have done. Parking at Brasstown and hiking down was pretty easy and we stopped to eat at Track Rock. Going back up to Brasstown was pretty brutal even though we are both in good shape. There are few turns or forks, which is good because the trail is NOT marked in many places. We heard reports of a copperhead and yellow jackets on the trail, but only saw red tailed hawks, bugs and worms. There is no water on this trail, but its very shady, at least in the summer. The views are nice and you are advised to take your time climbing using short steady steps. Over 11 miles of hiking total and it took a good 6 hours including rest stops, eating time, pictures, etc....

Small, well-behaved pets are allowed; however, the sites are adjacent to a high traffic pedestrian area and if there are problems with unruly pets, owners will be asked to leave. There is no campfire area. There is a full grocery store very near the Whistle Stop and three restaurants on site. There is no pool or gameroom. The RV park is part of the Whistle Stop Mall which is home to North Carolina's largest Antique Mall as well as numerous other specialty shops, fitness center and business services. It's really a ''turn key'' location... |

Raven Cliff Falls Trail
19 miles away The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike....
