Through the warmest time of the year here at Head Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Head Lake dip into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect       site to camp here at Head Lake is Lake Pines Camp Ground, and Opossum Lake Dam is a picturesque place. This lake is so wonderful. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Chattahoochee River, and if you need a place to stay Econo Lodge At Ft. Benning is a glorious choice. The high level of rain makes Head Lake a rather wet site; July is when you get the most rain here,                  and October is the month with the least moisture. There's whitewater on Mulberry Creek for all you adrenaline junkies; if you're here you can play some golf at Oxbow Creek Golf Course. Dry warm beds await you at Microtel Inn And Suites Columbus/Ft. Benning, and Head Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Anthony's Mobile Park is a delightful local campground. Looking for something right next door to Head Lake?
