Georgia has many beautiful lakes and Head Lake is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Dawsonville is a fine spot to spend a night or two. Don't leave Head Lake without first going for a hike along the Brookshire Creek Trail, and you're almost certainly hooked on lakes, Girl Scout Camp Echo Lake is one of those close by. All the outdoors exciting things in the Blue Ridge Mountains will keep you coming back persistently.

| | Best Western Dawson Village Inn is a splendid place to get some rest, and Palmer Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit. That right there is loads already, but it keeps on going; Head Lake has it all. People from Gainesville love to come to Head Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Hidden Valley Resort is a great spot to camp. Head Lake usually gets a lot of rain; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here; | |

October on the other hand is the driest. Good hiking is available along the Black Mountain Trail; there are some glorious whitewater spots on Etowah River. Head Lake is one of the lakes here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This lake
is so wonderful. Lumpkin Campground is a tremendous local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Settingdown Creek. Yeah, come up here to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a great
time. This is a pleasant neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Brice Lake is a lake around here, and enjoy a round of golf at Chestatee Golf Club. Throughout the summertime months highs here at Head Lake reach the 80's. When
the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are frequently in the 40's while Head Lake overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 20's.

Etowah River Campground
 | I love camping at Etowah River Campground. It is secluded and away from the traffic of the big lakes and Corps of Engineers campgrounds. The owners are VERY friendly and will do anything to make your stay pleasurable. You can hike and ride your ATV nearby, float the Etowah River or just relax. There is no reason to run to town after your arrival. The campsites are also very spacious and roomy, the bath house is clean and well maintained and the grounds are well groomed. I can't wait to go back. It may just be the only place I camp from now on.... |
