Summertime highs at Grimes Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Grimes Lake. You can take a little tour to Grimes Dam while you're here at Grimes Lake, and there are plenty of people from Athens-Clarke County here. The high level of precipitation makes Grimes Lake       a relatively wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is September. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Poplar Springs Campgrounds, and Rice Creek is a great whitewater spot close by. Grimes Lake really is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise. An afternoon playing golf at Highland Walk Golf Course is always a joy, and of course Hog Branch flows through this vicinity. In case you don’t have a problem                  getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Broad River, and if you need a spot to stay Best Western Regency Inn & Suites is a great choice.
