A visit to Gore Lake is always a good idea. If you need a location to stay Iris Inn is a splendid choice, and swing by Little Wasp Creek it's a pleasant location to stop at. Gore Lake is a reasonably wet place mostly with much rainfall; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October is when it's the driest. Lots of folks from Thomaston come to Gore Lake, and a brilliant close by hotel is Griffin Inn and Suites.
