| | What a place this is for outdoors people. Whitewater paddling is nice on Holly Creek, and as expected Boatwright Branch flows through this region. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous nearby hotel is Best Western Mountain View Inn, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Mountaintown Watershed Lake Number Three. At Gibson Lake throughout the summertime months highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. High | |

out while you're here, and Best Western Fairwinds Inn & Suites is a great spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. The Emery Creek Trail offers hiking at its best; at Gibson Lake you can catch a glimpse of Double Top.

Lake Conasauga Campground
 | ...a for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make that small effort to keep them that way... |
