Garrison Pond is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Lumber Jacks Camping Resort is a tremendous local campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Rice Creek offers some great whitewater. Looking for some flowing water? Try Ragsdale Creek, also Cagle Lake Dam is worth taking a look at since you're here. Garrison Pond is a relatively wet place typically with a lot of rainfall; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here

Lakes are such calm places, why not take a look at Cagle Lake in the neighborhood of Garrison Pond, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Commerce. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff close to Garrison Pond. There are other places here than Garrison Pond, for example Ayers Pond; a brilliant site to camp here at Garrison Pond is Commerce Koa Kampground. | |

The warmest time of the year at Garrison Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; after the sun is down through
the winter temperatures at Garrison Pond plunge into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Don't miss out on a nice swamp; Pritchett Swamp is right here at Garrison Pond, and the friendly people of Toccoa like to hang out close

 | ...50's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. The shorelines and surounding hills are populated with native hardwoods and pine, creating scenery which is unsurpassed in the area. Wild turkey, deer, beaver... |

 | 18 miles away 1 PHOTO Hi!? I am looking for information.? Recently, I have been going thru old black and white photos that belong to my grandmother.? I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
