Gore Lake
 | 17 miles away Very poor excuse for a pay lake. I do not think the lake was stocked, spent $30.00 to fish, no bites the entire 2.5 hours we were there. No signs of fish at all, no brim at the shore line, & no fish churning in the water, nothing but dead water. ... |
Whooping Creek
 | 17 miles away ...There is no way to float a boat in this creek as it is only ankle deep 90% of the way. I have lived on this creek my entire life and have barely been able to find a spotdeep enough to swim in most years. It is however a great place to hike and camp. I dont know much about the adjacent property owners but in 29 years have never been bothered hiking the section between Clem-Lowell road and Hwy 5 (the section you are referring to).The section on the opposite side of hwy 5 is owned by Inland Paper and posted. There are a few property owners on shilo church road that will allow you passage to the water. I have floated a canoe to the river on this section after months of rain, but in general it is also too shallow. There are some deep holes in this section of the creek that offer great bream and bass fishing. The fishing is best closer to the river and it is not uncommon to catch 7# striped bass swimming up from the river looking for food. A gob of nightcawlers or a small rooster tail work excellent for all species. It is a beautiful stream and will not dissappoint for quiet and solitude... |
