A good close by hotel is Best Western Roswell Suites, and the vistas at Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area will blow your mind. The high level of rain makes Garrett Lake a pretty wet location; March is the month that gets the most rain, and October is when it's the driest. Lake Cherful Dam is not far at all from Garrett Lake, and you can run the rapids of Marsh Creek. So many enjoyable things near Garrett Lake, just remarkable. Bradshaw Farms Golf

| | Course is a splendid golf course nearby, and a picturesque lake like Lake Cherful Dam is a good site to stop at. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Garrett Lake that you need to camp here for a while, La Siesta RV Park is a good location for that, and get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Big Creek. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta here at Garrett Lake. Holiday Inn | |

ATLANTA/ROSWELL is a good place to get some rest, and lakes are such calm spots, why not pop by Lake Cherful. Summertime highs at Garrett Lake generally tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. All through the winter
highs are in the 40's while Garrett Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Garrett Lake has to offer, you can camp at Marietta Campground, and Rocky Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at.

Simmons Lake
 | 16 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
