Hiking is a popular thing to do around Evans Lake; Grassy Mountain Tower Trail is a splendid local trail, and Evans Lake is not far at all from Calhoun. Not far from Evans Lake, you'll find Hopper Lake which is a lovely lake, and you can run the rapids of Talking Rock Creek. This lake is so wonderful. | | camp. During the summertime months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Evans Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Evans Lake dip into the 20's. Dam in the vicinity of Evans Lake there are some attention-grabbing things to see. Evans Lake ordinarily gets a large amount of rain; during the month of March you get the most rain around here while October is frequently the driest
month. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Key West Inn Chatsworth is a good choice; you can go for a hike on the Emery Creek Trail. Good hiking is available along the Songbird Trail, and camping is available at Pine Log Campground.

Lake Conasauga Campground
 | 18 miles away ...ng and hosting at Lake Conasauga for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make that sma... |
