     Hiking is a popular thing to do around Evans Lake; Grassy Mountain Tower Trail is a splendid local trail, and Evans Lake is not far at all from Calhoun. Not far from Evans Lake, you'll find Hopper Lake which is a lovely lake, and you can run the rapids of Talking Rock Creek. This lake is so wonderful. There are other sites here than Evans Lake, for example Reregulation Pool; if you came for an overnight stay Fort Mountain State Park is a magnificent spot to  
   camp. During the summertime months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Evans Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Evans Lake dip into the 20's.
So many entertaining things to do here at Evans Lake, too good to be true. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Fairwinds Inn & Suites, and at Evans Lake
 
               Dam in the vicinity of Evans Lake there are some attention-grabbing things to see. Evans Lake ordinarily gets a large amount of rain; during the month of March you get the most rain around here while October is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
If you need a spot to stay Key West Inn Chatsworth is a good choice; you can go for a hike on the Emery Creek Trail. Good hiking is available along the Songbird Trail, and camping is available at Pine Log Campground.

The General Store @ Eagle Mtn. now has Villa rentals to add to the enjoyment of paddling the Coosawattee, and can provide shuttle service to and from the river. Its a great place to spend the day, and now, you can even spend several days if you wish.  Check them out!!...Ran the kayak trip from the General Store this past Memorial Day weekend it was great.The Store was full of customers, but they tried to make everyone feel very special. Great Folks and a great 2hr trip...The Coosawattee General Store is now offering kayaks/tubes for the stretch that runs through Coosawattee River Resort....

...ng and hosting at Lake Conasauga for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make that sma...

Short  moderate walk  to the tower. Very nice view at top  from tower In summer months  be very  careful when walking  section  with rocks. A lot  of  rattlers have been spotted here....
