If you need a location to stay Best Western Winder Hotel is a glorious choice; camping is available at Old Federal Campground. A delightful place to camp here at Elder Lake is Lawrenceville Campground, and Elder Lake is not far at all from Gainesville. Man, is there loads of exciting stuff to do near Elder Lake. You can run the rapids of Apalachee River in close proximity to Elder Lake. There's whitewater on Alcovy River for       all you thrill seekers, and a nice close by hotel is Jameson Inn Winder. Elder Lake is a reasonably wet place frequently with lots of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is March while June is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Elder Lake Dam is not far at all from Elder Lake, and an afternoon playing golf at Mulligan's Par-3 Golf Course is always a delight. For the period of the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's                  at Elder Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's.
