A visit to Edwards Lakes is always a good idea. There's always Pylant Dam to take a look at close to Edwards Lakes; Britt Shoals is a good location to take a look at. Playing golf is lots of fun at Southland Golf Course, and Atlanta - Days Inn Stone Mountain is a fine place to get some rest. Edwards Lakes gets much water; most of the rain falls during March, and October is when it's the driest. Edwards Lakes is a tremendous place to visit for more than one

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a pleasant place next to Edwards Lakes; why not take a little spree to Garner Creek if you're here. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Stone Mountain. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Edwards Lakes has to offer, you can camp at Stone Mountain Park Family Campground. | |

This lake is so wonderful. Yellow River is a magnificent whitewater spot close to Edwards Lakes; what would a place like Edwards Lakes be without out of the ordinary nearby marks like McDaniels Bluff. For the period of the summer
at Edwards Lakes highs are ordinarily in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows during the wintertime for Edwards Lakes tend to be in the 20's. You just
can't picture the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the area in the vicinity of Edwards Lakes has to offer. If you're visiting Edwards Lakes from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, you won't be the only one, and Edwards Lake West is a great lake nearby.

Simmons Lake

I'm an Atlanta native who grew up in DeKalb County and attended Lakeside High School; back when I was a teenager I saw work done on the neighboring Echo Lake, which is surrounded by nice middle-class homes. From what I can tell, the lake was dredged, I guess in order to save it, and Simmons Lake (across Briarcliff Road) was essentially sacrificed for its sake, taking the excess silt from Echo Lake. There's still a small pond there, quite shallow, in the areas closet to Briarcliff Road and Echo Lake, but nothing like what I once knew; over the years even the trees and undergrowth have reclaimed most of the area the lake had once covered when I was a boy... |

Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions.... |
