Dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn & Suites Toccoa, and not far from Eaveson Pond you'll locate Cash Pond which is a stunning lake. If you come at the right time of year, Nancy Town River offers some wonderful whitewater, and there are other spots here than Eaveson Pond, for example Goolsby Pond. | | folks from Toccoa here. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Toccoa is a glorious spot to spend a night or two, and camping at Poplar Springs Campgrounds is always a good experience. Eaveson Pond ordinarily gets lots of rain; the month with most of the rain is March; October meanwhile is the driest month. For the duration of the long summer days here at Eaveson Pond, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. | |

The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Eaveson Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Rice Creek in a kayak, and if you came to camp Toccoa Rv Park & Campground is a perfect place to do that.

Stonecypher Lake
 | ...Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
