Bald Mountain Park Campground
| Mike and Pam has done a beautiful job with the park. We have a place in the residential? section of Bald Mountain Park and we have to go thru the park to get to our place and each time we go up there we notice somrthing else that they have done to the park to make it look better. We used to camp alots before we got our own place,I? would say that Bald Mountain Park is one of the cleanest park that we have every camp at.?????????? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU''ll ARE DOING!...This is one of the nicest campgrounds East of the Mississippi River! I have been to many! Mike and Pam have taken a run-down campground and turned it around and into one that anyone will be glad to visit. There are tons of things to see and do in the area.... |
Enota Resort and Campground

We have camped here in our camper van several times in the past 3 years and love to hike up to the AT and the waterfalls, or watch the kids fish for trout in the pond in front of the Lodge The land is pristine, laced with waterfalls and streams totally accessible to both RV camping (full hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds,the gardens or the animal farm. Arkaquah Trail
 | 11 miles away Hiked this trail with a friend on Labour Day weekend 2007 and it was one of the toughest trails that we have done. Parking at Brasstown and hiking down was pretty easy and we stopped to eat at Track Rock. Going back up to Brasstown was pretty brutal even though we are both in good shape. There are few turns or forks, which is good because the trail is NOT marked in many places. We heard reports of a copperhead and yellow jackets on the trail, but only saw red tailed hawks, bugs and worms. There is no water on this trail, but its very shady, at least in the summer. The views are nice and you are advised to take your time climbing using short steady steps. Over 11 miles of hiking total and it took a good 6 hours including rest stops, eating time, pictures, etc.... |

Rufus Morgan Trail
| 14 miles away Excellent hiking trail with good access and beautiful falls. Rufus Morgan is a moderately hard short trail up to stunning 60' falls. Beautiful forest surrounds the trail. Be careful and tell someone you're going though... there's no on around for miles and if you get lost or hurt, you're on you're own. The waterfall is at the end of the trail and is easy to find. The road up to the trail is just a forest service road, but it is in great condition and there's a marked parking area (4 spots) with signage at the trailhead. We went in early August and the trail is not overgrown and in great shape.... |
Raven Cliff Falls Trail
| 16 miles away The family hiked to Raven Cliff Falls on 2/15/09. It is 2.5 miles one way and is fairly level with a slight uphill slope. It follows a creek for most of the way passing several smaller scenic falls. The main feature is a towering cliff with the falls dropping between a slot in the cliffs. Very impressive and worth the 5 mile hike.... |
Coosa Backcountry Trail
| 18 miles away ...ack, so we pushed on. After a few hours of strenuous hiking we reached the junction of the Coosa and Appalachian Trail. We pushed on for another hour or two until we reached the top and I saw the better than I expected shelter at the summit of Blood Mountain. We staggered in about two at a time a few minutes apart, each small group repeating the same emotion of screaming here it is, or we found it, finally. We camped in the shelter with two other parties and proceeded to drink the liquor we brought with us which helped us keep our mind off the fact that the temp was falling under twenty degrees making for a cold night. The next morning the mountain was covered in ice and light snow. The view was spectacular as you can stand on a HUGE rock that is right next to the shelter. Blood mountain seems to tower way over the surrounding mountains which is great for taking pictures. While the journey up which takes about a full day if you follow the trails we took, takes merely a few hours to get back to Vogel as we stayed on the Coosa trail the whole way back.
