     Get wet paddling on South River, and if you came for an overnight stay Mount Bethel Campground is a delightful place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Duggan Lake regularly gets a large amount of rainfall; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is September. Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is a very nice spot to explore near Duggan Lake; float down the rapids of Yellow River in a kayak.
This lake is so wonderful.
 
   Don't forget to take a delightful little visit to Big Cotton Indian Creek, and after a long day outdoors Days Inn McDonough is a good place to spend a night or two. Yeah, come here to Duggan Lake for a great time. You don’t have to go far from Duggan Lake to see the water at Duggan Lake Dam, and New Hope Campground is a delightful local campground. While you're here at Duggan Lake, you could also visit striking Lake Ola; Georgia National Golf Club is a golf  
               course nearby.
Through the summer here at Duggan Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 80's with night lows in the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Duggan Lake plunge into the 30's. You'll find a picturesque lake called Jones Lake near Duggan Lake, and a great close by hotel is Country Inn & Suites By Carlson McDonough.

Is South River a public river all the way to Jackson Lake?...I was just surfing sites browsing facts about the south river and came across this site regarding canoeing the river and noticed you have a put in get out marker. So is it illegal to put in wherever you want along the river if you have somewhere avail? Putting in at Killian Hill Rd , the best white water is just down river from HWY 78 to the Yellow River Park.  Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions....
