A lake close by is Reservoir 28, and a pleasant nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Lavonia. For the period of the months of summer here at Deans Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Deans Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Deans Lake is not the only site nearby, Reservoir 38 is a nearby

If you came for an overnight stay Tugaloo State Park is a wonderful place to camp, and for you golfers we recommend close by Highland Walk Golf Course. You can run the rapids of Rice Creek close to Deans Lake, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Regency Inn & Suites is a glorious choice. Any time is a magnificent time at Deans Lake if you have a thing about the outdoors. | |

Deans Lake is a rather wet place mostly with a lot of precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here, and September is when it's the driest.

Stonecypher Lake

...ake is a private lake located 5 miles south of Toccoa Ga in the foothills of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch.
This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's.
The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed.
The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates.
Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
