Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Sherwood Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn & Suites. All the water falling down from the sky makes Daniels Pond a wet site; the month with most of the rain is March while October is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Daniels Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Flat Rock Campground is a fine place for that,

| | and if you need a place to stay Jameson Inn Lagrange is a great choice. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Flat Shoals River, and Daniels Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Highland Marina Resort is a delightful local campground. fun at American Legion Golf Club. There's whitewater on Whooping Creek for all you adrenaline people, and there are plenty of people from LaGrange here at Daniels Pond. Through the months of summer here at Daniels Pond, high temperatures
commonly get into the 90's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. During the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's with temperatures at Daniels Pond dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.

Whooping Creek
 | 18 miles away ... to float a boat in this creek as it is only ankle deep 90% of the way. I have lived on this creek my entire life and have barely been able to find a spotdeep enough to swim in most years. It is however a great place to hike and camp. I dont know much about the adjacent property owners but in 29 years have never been bothered hiking the section between Clem-Lowell road and Hwy 5 (the section you are referring to).The section on the opposite side of hwy 5 is owned by Inland Paper and posted. There are a few property owners on shilo church road that will allow you passage to the water. I have floated a canoe to the river on this section after months of rain, but in general it is also too shallow. There are some deep holes in this section of the creek that offer great bream and bass fishing. The fishing is best closer to the river and it is not uncommon to catch 7# striped bass swimming up from the river looking for food. A gob of nightcawlers or a small rooster tail work excellent for all species. It is a beautiful stream and will not dissappoint for quiet and solitude, but not worth... |
