It's always fun to stop by Copeland Lake. If you need a site to stay Hotel Sierra Suites Alpharetta is a great choice, and do take a look at Lake Providence, it's a gorgeous lake. Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a good national park, and if you're here, you could also take a look at picturesque Eads Lake. Just can't get enough of Copeland Lake. Very great water scenery is available at Copeland Dam in the vicinity of Copeland Lake, and Big Creek

| | has a great whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Brookshire Creek Trail, and camping is available at Marietta Campground. Camping at Twin Lakes Park is always a glorious experience, and whitewater paddling is delightful on Marsh Creek. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Copeland Lake. 20's overnight here at Copeland Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta here. Enjoy a round of golf at Crooked Creek Golf Club not far from Copeland Lake; dry warm beds await
you at Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Alpharetta-Windward. Copeland Lake is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rain; March is when you get the most rain here while September is ordinarily the driest month.

Simmons Lake
 | 15 miles away Just thought you should know this, but Simmons Lake essentially doesn't exist anymore. I'm an Atlanta native who grew up in DeKalb County and attended Lakeside High School; back when I was a teenager I saw work done on the neighboring Echo Lake, which is surrounded by nice middle-class homes. From what I can tell, the lake was dredged, I guess in order to save it, and Simmons Lake (across Briarcliff Road) was essentially sacrificed for its sake, taking the excess silt from Echo Lake. There's still a small pond there, quite shallow, in the areas closet to Briarcliff Road and Echo Lake, but nothing like what I once knew; over the years even the trees and undergrowth have reclaimed most of the area the lake had once covered when I was a boy... |
