Why not camp at Hamilton Branch Campground if you're here at Casaga Lake; nearby you discover the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn Thomson, and camping is available at Mistletoe State Park. And that's not all you can do here at Casaga Lake. Casaga Lake is not the only spot nearby, Bennett Lake is a nearby lake, and there's whitewater on Stevens Creek for all you adrenaline

The warmest time of the year at Casaga Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Casaga Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Days Inn Thomson is a fine site to spend a night or two, and if you've had enough of Casaga Lake, Pollards Lake is nearby. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can go to Casaga Lake Dam, and get your heart beating on the splendid whitewater of Savannah River.

 | 14 miles away There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
