In Georgia there are many beautiful lakes, Carters Lake is one of them. All the water falling down from the sky makes Carters Lake a wet place; through the month of March you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is October. There are glorious locations to explore along the Songbird Trail, and there are other places here than Carters Lake, for example Reregulation Pool. Dry warm beds await you at Key West Inn Chatsworth, and glide down the
rapids of Talking Rock Creek in a kayak.
Carters Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. Best Western Fairwinds Inn & Suites is a magnificent place to get some rest, and don't leave Carters Lake without first going for a hike along the Bear Creek Trail. Through the summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Carters Lake, and the night is quite chillier of course, typically in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in

the 40's while the cold winter nights at Carters Lake are in the 20's.
This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Emery Creek Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and the wonderful people of Calhoun like to hang out nearby. There's so much to do here at Carters Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fort Mountain State Park is a delightful place for that, and why not take a little trip to Fisher Creek if you're here. Carters Dam is picturesque and it's near Carters Lake, and if you came to camp Plum Nelly Campground is a magnificent place to do that.
This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Coosawattee River offers some splendid whitewater, and not far from Carters Lake you'll discover Reregulation Reservoir which is a scenic lake.

Lake Conasauga Campground
14 miles away
...ter camping and hosting at Lake Conasauga for the last few years I am very upset about the way people are treating the facilities offered there. As this area grows in popularity, and more and more people use it, I am saddened by the way this beautiful lake and mountian is being abused and trashed. The catch phrase ''Leave only your footprints'' applies to all US National Forests for a reason. One can only assume that you use this camping area for it's beauty and freshness, so why then do so many people leave it in such a mess? To have to pick up over 50 bags of trash, often left scattered about after a non-holiday weekend, is unreasonable. I don't mean to rant or nag, but, it isn't that hard to put a grocery bag in you pocket when fishing along the lake trail and walk out with the trash you create. The hosts in most camp grounds are volunteers and are unpaid. They pay for all of their own expenses to be there in order to keep the grounds and restrooms clean and stocked. So, PLEASE, read and obey the rules posted. Few places are as beautiful as our National Parks, please lets all make...
