If you are in Putnam county it's always a good idea to stop by Carnes Lake. There are other places here than Carnes Lake, for example Rooty Creek Structure Number Five Lake, and you don’t have to go far from Carnes Lake to catch a sight of the water at Carnes Lake Dam. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Carnes Lake. Through the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 50's; after the sun is down during the winter

After a long day outdoors Cuscowilla Golf Resort on Lake Oconee is a great spot to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Lake Oconee Center. This lake is so wonderful. want to return home again. On a splendid day at Carnes Lake you can take a hike along the Twin Bridges Trail; you can run the rapids of Little River. Not far from Carnes Lake, you'll locate Rooty Creek Structure Number 27 Lake which
is a picturesque lake; this is a popular site for people from Milledgeville. This lake is so wonderful. Uncle Remus Golf Course is a great golf course nearby, and Little Branch is in the neighborhood of Carnes Lake and is always
a diversion to go to. The high level of rain makes Carnes Lake a relatively wet place; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October.

Twin Bridges Trail
 | The Twin Bridges Trail is a bit strenuous and half of it is along the lake. It ends near a hunting camp where trash is dumped by campers. I really wish the trail were longer. USFS needs to consider walk-in camping with a parking area to require campers to walk 1/4 mile to the sites. The gate needs to be locked to the lakeside lots except for hunting season.... |
Little River Park
 | Little River Park has been totally renovated. The entire infrastructure of the park has been gutted out and replaced with new. We now have 130 FULL HOOK UP sites that provide 20/30/50 AMP service on every site. All sites have cable TV hook-ups also. A laundry facility has been completed with 3 washers/3dryers. A brand new 24 X 30 picnic pavillion was just completed last week. We have 5 docks that provide wet boat storage for our campers. WI FI is coming soon along with a fish cleaning station. Our daily rates are $35 for waterfront and $30 for an interior site. Weekly and long term camping is also available. We have 3 boat ramps, and marine fueling dock.
